Small Victories

So, I’ve finally finished a six month stretch of training for my new job and it’s definitely with mixed emotions. Mostly good stuff though as I look ahead to a brave new future with possibility and cool stuff that I didn’t even think would be available to me even a year ago.
From finding out a parent is ill and losing my job as soon as I returned from being with him, to financial crises all winter long and battling just to survive, to stumbling on a pretty cool person to share my weird world with, finally succeeding at the job and passing training to now actually working and making a normal wage.
As of tonight, my first complete shift on a road trip, I gear up to head back home to winnipeg and put another road trip under my belt, there’s a sense of something good on the horizon. Not at all implying it will be easy as life refuses to work like that, but something worth working and fighting for. It’s a far cry from a year ago where my job was up in the air and bad management had me stressing like crazy for almost nothing.
Life is weird.  It’s hard and sometimes it hurts a lot but I’ve learned to find the small victories because enough of those make for a pretty big celebration.
Surviving, one day at a time. I dig it.
