Randomly

-Recently dreamed of flying in a Cessna through downtown Boston with John Candy... and I woke up missing the big comedian. -Decided that the wisdom of Foghorn Leghorn is about the best stuff out there... "That boy couldn't hit the side of a barn with the side of a barn!"   Cmon!!!  how can you not love it?! -Watched a movie that, although family-esque and cheesey, still had some pretty funny parts to it, especially Seth Green and his antics.  Old Dogs.  Good for a chuckle. -Had a tough conversation with my boss, but a good one. Things might just be turning in my favor.  Maybe. -Almost time for another round of Flaming Handball! -Friday night, around midnight, or just after... look to the stars.  There will be two moons. Well..Mars will look like a moon.  Only happens once every few hundred years, but it should be a pretty spectacular sight... will stay up a bit later to see it.     HAHAHAH.... I did some investisleuthing and it turn...

Paul Brandt, Country supahstah!!

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/manitoba/story/2010/08/19/mb-surprise-farmer-dyck.html So just up the gravel road from where I work...farmer Dyck was farming. Along comes a western singer and a video is made!   Ok so it sounds flakey... but that is in fact what happened. I was off for the day and missed it, but Paul Brandt is a pretty big deal... and wow, 2 times in the news in a week... well three if you want to count that Hutterite dude who fell into his hog processing machine this week... but lets not talk about that fellow and his somewhat suspect "accident".   The info is all in the article.  Very cool.  3 Years ago Winkler won an NHL night... we had the Stanley cup at my work... right in front of my office?!?!?!  There are pictures all around the office so I can't even call them rat bastid liars in pure envy.     Very cool.    Seems my neck of the woods is fairly popular. Heh...AND my team did the absolute best in the entire ...

...Not Even The Trees...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89LRsMkGKQ4   Alone as I sit and watch the trees Won't you tell me if I scream will they bend down and listen to me? * And it makes me wonder, if I'll know the words when you come Or will you laugh at me Or will I run Little boy says to me, "Where you goin' now son?" I said, "I don't know where I'm goin' boy I only know where I'm from" And it makes me wonder If the stars shine when my eyes close Or does my brothers heart cry I don't know I'm a stranger in my home Now that everybody's gone Someone please talk to me 'Cause I feel you cry And you're sitting with him And I know I'll never see you again Lying down in Charleston under the Carolina sky You see I'm tired of feeling this pain I'm tired of living my own little lie And it makes me wonder When I see you in my dreams Does it mean anything Are you trying to talk to me I'm a stranger in my home Tell me are you feeling ...

Hootie and The Nostalgia....

Wow... memories.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puVBrm3tVgU   I bought a cassette (yes you read that right) for my yellow Sony sports walkman (annnnd yes, you definitely read THAT one right) back when I was training in the Infantry, bought it at the Canex out in Wainright...would play the music and fall asleep. Inevitably the walkman would clatter to the floor in the night from my crazy thrashing around.  Never seemed to bother the other guys in my Barracks though, they were usually out like a light.   I loooooved this album!  I had this, Pink Floyds the Division Bell (STILL awesome) and Van Halen lol... yeah... soldiering in style, right?   This music brings me right back to a specific time and place, its almost eerie to sit back and listen to it now and let so many memories flood to the front of the mind.... easy to forget so many of them too but the music brings it all right back like a lost friend.  Nostalgic to the extreme.  Before so m...

Combine-d effort breaks Guinness world record

Image
These are the shenanigans that happen in my neck of the woods.  I wont poke too much fun as it was all for a good cause... but the drive home was interesting, dodging combines all the way to Carman.     For folks unfamiliar with the region... well.. its farming...and more farming. There was a cool picture of all the combines lined up on a field but I cant seem to find it right now (Probably having more to do with being up at 6 am than actually having to find a photo on the ole interwebs).    Ok....busy day today.  Lets get it on... A total of 200 combines working on a single wheat field near Winkler set a Guinness World Record Saturday as part of the World Harvest for Kids 2010, a fundraiser for Children's Camps International. "It was awesome," said Derek Unrau, regional director for the faith-based organization. Unrau said it took just over 10 minutes for the fleet of combines to finish harvesting the 250-acre field. A Guinness adjudicator,...
